Call for proposals: Rigi Workshop 2028

The SCNAT Platform Biology is soliciting proposals for the organisation of the Rigi Workshop 2028. We invite group leaders from Swiss research institutions and/or members of member societies to organise a three-day scientific event on an interdisciplinary scientific topic that is related to biology, for an audience of about 30 PhD students and postdocs.
The Rigi Workshop takes place at the beautiful Rigi Kulm Hotel, usually at the end of January.
We have prepared an FAQ with important information. Please find below two important aspects of co-organising a Rigi Workshop: Benefits and Costs.
Why co-organise a Rigi Workshop ?
- As scientist: Shape a scientific event with financial support and minimal administrative tasks in a unique setting.
- As member society: Get known among PhD students and post-docs, promote your activities, gain new members. Your logo will be on the flyer and you'll be presented during the Rigi Workshop.
- Us, the Platform Biology: Meet our strategic goals: promotion of young talents, fostering interdisciplinarity and support of our member societies.
Costs and contributions:
- The Platform Biology covers travel and accomodation of scientific organisers and/or speakers up to a total maximum of CHF 5000. Additional costs of organisers and speakers have to be covered by the co-organising and/or sponsoring societies. Other sponsors are also welcome.
- The Platform Biology supports the participation of up to 30 PhD students and post-docs by reducing the registration fee to CHF 150 per person. This fee includes accomodation, meals and coffee breaks. It does not include travel costs.
How to propose the co-organisation of a Rigi Workshop:
Please use the proposal template to describe relevant details of the planned workshop. The deadline for submission of Rigi Workshop proposals for 2028 is 15th August 2026. The Board of the Platform Biology will select a proposal in September 2026.
