Grassland and forage production are central components of sustainable agriculture – especially in Switzerland, where they form the basis of animal production and provide a wide range of ecological services. The conference will focus on current scientific findings, challenges and solutions relating to the use, conservation and further development of grassland systems. The focus is on issues of productivity, biodiversity, animal health, landscape planning and food security in the context of climate change and economic constraints.

Nachtisch – Nachhaltigkeit im Gespräch: der neue Podcast der SCNAT
Nachhaltigkeit entsteht zusammen: Am Nachtisch stellen sich Forscherin und Praktiker kniffligen Fragen und suchen Wege in eine hoffnungsvolle Zukunft. In der ersten Folge diskutieren wir mit der Landschaftsökologin Janine Bolliger und dem Lichtplaner Jörg Haller, wie sich künstliches Licht auf Natur und Menschen auswirkt und wie eine gute Lichtplanung Biodiversität schützt, Energie spart und Sicherheit schafft.
Kleinsäugercamp 2026
Weiterbildung mit Fachinputs zur Biologie, zu Nachweismethoden und zur Bestimmung. Im Gelände entdecken Sie verschiedene Arten mit Lebendfallen, Spurentunneln und Fotofallen.

Call for Open Applications to the 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Interdisciplinary) 2026
The 75th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (28 June – 3 July 2026) will bring together several dozen Nobel Laureates and 600 early-career researchers with an interdisciplinary research profile. Open applications from Switzerland are to be submitted until 7 October 2025.

Demo against budget cuts in education and research
The academic midlevel staff of Switzerland represented by ACTIONuni, AVETH and VAUZ are calling for demonstration on 1. October 2025 against the plans of the Swiss Federal Council to cut federal contributions to universities, the ETH domain, universities of applied sciences, and funding bodies such as the SNSF.

Das Arten-ABC: ein Pilot-Projekt in Entwicklung
Die biologische Vielfalt ist unsere Lebensgrundlage. Arten zu kennen und zu benennen ist die Grundlage für das Wahrnehmen und Dokumentieren unserer lebenden Umwelt. Artenkenntnisse sind daher ein wichtiger Baustein in der Grundbildung. Ein neues Bildungsangebot für Schulen im Raum Bern soll Kindern den Zugang zu Artenkenntnissen ermöglichen und Lehrpersonen in ihrem Unterricht unterstützen.
