The platform brings together researchers from 18 Swiss specialist societies in biology and exchanges information with international unions. The BIOLOGY conference aims to provide a platform for exchange between students and researchers across diverse scientific institutions and topic areas such as evolution, ecology, conservation, behavior and systematics. It is also the annual joint meeting of the Swiss Zoological, Botanical, and Systematics societies.

The day before the main meeting (5 February) a satellite meeting of the Swiss Bioinformatics Institute on “Analyzing Microbiomes” will take place, organized by Laurent Falquet (Fribourg).
