In the natural sciences, as in the hard sciences, one observation persists: the further one advances in the academic professional situation, the lower the proportion of women. This well-known phenomenon is called the "leaky pipeline". The Biology Platform has set up a working group to propose an event around this theme. It would like to look at this situation and interview women, men and specialists in the field in order to share their experiences and/or studies.
Starting September 2021, the Platform Biology will therefore propose a series of 9 online webinars, to listen to different experiences and discuss different themes such as the importance of diversity, role of biology, questioning the academic value system or bias in recruitment, to name but a few. This series of webinars is primarily offered to members of the specialised societies of the Platform Biology, but is open to all.
More information will follow shortly.
